The Village Project!
As we creep into the cozy heart of wintertime, the Dusty Flower Pot Cabaret arts collective is dreaming and building from the bottom up a warm, and friendly village inside the Ukrainian Hall in Strathcona (805 E Pender) for the first weekend in December. Much like the magical lands we've created for the stage, this one comes to life as a fully interactive bazaar market and town square built of scraps and scavenges into an awe-inspiring, rugged landscape of homes, cathedrals, towers and bridges.
Stroll the streets with a cup of mulled wine and sample the homemade pies and treats served by village locals -- characters straight from fairytales! Take home wares and works by local artists and artisans -- and even schedule a new hairdoo with the villagecoiffeuse!
Performances, peep shows and tarot readings will run throughout the day -- live music, puppetry, clown and dance. Word has even spread that developers will be spotted while they're scouting for prime condo locations within the Village paradise. Get in on the real estate -- or voice your concerns at the Town Hall!
Admission during the day (12pm-6pm) is FREE!
